COVID-19 Information
Notice to students applying for student housing with Hawaii Student Suites (“HSS”):
As you know, we are living in unprecedented times with the emergence of COVID-19. We supported all efforts to flatten the curve and continue to take all reasonable efforts to contain the spread of it in Hawaii by following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as all state and local mandates.
Living in student housing creates challenges with social distancing to prevent the spread as students often gather together closely for social, leisure, and recreational activities, shared dining, and/or use of shared equipment, such as kitchen appliances, laundry facilities, stairwells, and elevators. As such, until further notice, we vigorously encourage students to maintain at least a 6 feet distance from each other and to wear cloth face coverings when in shared spaces.
Given the space limitations of shared sleeping rooms, students who chose to apply and live in a shared sleeping room may not be able to maintain social distancing while in shared sleeping room together. HSS encourages students to communicate with each other to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This includes but is not limited to the following:
- wearing cloth face coverings while in the room together
- cleaning the shared sleeping area frequently
- empting trash regularly
- limiting contact of each other’s personal items
- prohibiting any guests in the shared sleeping room
- washing hands before entering the sleeping room
- wiping down any shared items after touching them
